bad camera

I tried and I tried tonight to write a lovely blog with pictures but I am defeated and very unhappy now. I can't wait to tell you about my coffee kisses but it will have to wait until we get back from Scotland.

Happy Easter everybody.

missing friends

I love The Lady. My Gran used to get it and pass it on to my my Mum. The ads were always most interesting, searching for the perfect nanny, promoting the best villa for hire.

But, OMG! Channel 4 tonight. Talk about blowing it all out of the water. Rachael, the new 'attack dog' is (in her own words) 'finally here' and I feel so, so sorry for the staff. She really is a posh pitbull and for want of a better word is an utter cow.

I was really shocked by her ruthless backstabbing.

Bring back the old Editor I say. The Lady should be refined shouldn't it?

the pile deepens

How quickly time flies (when you're not having fun). It seems ages since I last blogged.

So here is another fly by night post, one without photos, sorry.

Mother's Day weekend was lovely, mainly because we managed to get out in the garden and I pegged my washing out for the first time this year! It made me really happy seeing washing drying on the line. It is amazing how a bit of sun, a couple of Primulas (pink and orange, my favorite colour combination at the moment) and a spot of weeding can really lift the soul after a crappy week.

The other thing lifting my soul at the moment is my new toy. Now, I'm not one for technology. Have only just recently got to grips with the computer. But I have fallen for my new phone.

It has been a tumultuous affair so far, could have so easily gone very wrong. But, after 50 minutes on the (home) phone to a lovely man at Orange I finally got to grips with my iphone on Saturday evening.

And ever since then I've been addicted. I have even been 'playing' with iphone instead of knitting (and variegated cardigan only needs her ends tying in then she's done). Looking for new free 'apps' to install (300 new every day apparently), getting excited when I realise I don't even need my ipod anymore!

This may all sound very sad but I'm not sorry. A vintage homebody at heart I still need to embrace all things modern.

If you have one, by the way, install fun mirror lite for free. It is absolutely hilarious, I was in tears tonight (in a good way). If you have a rather childish sense of humour you will totally split your sides.

It's always good to have a laugh.

Keep smiling.

colly wobbles

You know what they say about third time lucky.

The first time I tried to achieve a perfect jelly from mould it wouldn't release at all.

Tonight I left it in the water too long and it went rather runny round the egdes.

Am hoping that next time I will time it to perfection.

At least it kept a bit of shape!

Anyway, thought I would update you on the Mildred situation. Here she is with her two sisters and Dad. Peepo, can you see me?

Her situation is no better but no worse. She seems happy enough, enjoyed some sunbathing today and a nibble on the grass.

And hey, no run is needed, don't think she would (or could for that matter) run away!

On the knitting front my variegated cardigan is ever so nearly there, just one sleeve to go, but have a feeling it will be another 'never wear' garment! Will hopefully be able to show you it soon.

boyfriends

Spring is finally here, and I think I can feel it.

I have the beginnings of that funny feeling that I have only recently noticed I get every year around this time, and I can't quite explain what I mean.

It all started on Saturday morning when I had absolutely every intention of having a lie in but actually got up at 7.30 and was in town buying Mothers Day presents at 9. Odd. Come Sunday lunchtime we had already changed the living room into its 'Spring position' and cleared out the childrens wardrobes. Something is definitely in the air.

But that is all quite normal, spring cleaning and the alike. No, my feeling is rather different and sends me a bit mad. It's almost like I can't cope with Spring (as lovely as it is) and need to get to Summer. Maybe being a Winter baby has something to do with it?

Anyhow, enough of my rambling.

Life trundles on and I wonder what I can tell you about. Life is pretty mundane at the moment and I was thinking only this morning how lucky I am to have a craft. You know, what would I do without knitting?

When I have a rare few spare minutes what would I do? What did I used to do? Knitting (and crochet and sewing) keeps me going, it is a massive part of my life and without being too dramatic I 'am so glad I found you knitting'.

However, getting back to the 'what can I tell you' bit, and feeling very lacking in the inspiration department, here's a few bits;

the only pegs I will use are wooden pegs
I absolutely love Enya
Mildred is doing fine
I bought a Lloyd Loom chest for £5
I've not yet finished my variegated cardi, but I'm cracking on with it
or my shruggy thing
or my Granny square blanket
I'm trying to be restrained by not starting a cable scarf I want to knit
I'm starting to understand that blogging needs to be done in the day, 'cos this is going nowhere.

Happy Spring everybody, stay with me, it's only a passing phase, I'll be back to my normal self soon I hope!
